The short answer
For a London air conditioning enquiry, provide the exact postcode, building type, rooms, proposed equipment positions and site-access restrictions. Check address-specific planning and building permissions before relying on an installation quote. A location page does not confirm contractor availability, a branch office or a guaranteed response time.

Building and permissions
Tell the contractor whether the premises are a house, flat, office, shop or another building type. Clarify ownership, tenancy and managing-agent requirements, and whether external changes are proposed. Planning requirements are not uniform: consult the relevant borough or local planning authority about the actual scheme. Listed status and other restrictions may need specific advice.
Access and outdoor placement
Provide photographs or drawings of safely accessible areas, the proposed outdoor position and the pipe route. Discuss access for installation and future servicing, not only the initial mounting location. Noise and airflow requirements should be assessed for the actual equipment and surroundings.
- Floor level, lift/stair access and loading arrangements.
- Working-hour or occupied-building restrictions.
- Outdoor-unit space, neighbouring properties and servicing access.
- Pipe routes, drainage, electrical supply and making good.
Compare local quotes on the same scope
Specify the rooms, approximate dimensions, occupancy, intended heating/cooling use and desired timetable. Request exact model references and a written breakdown of inclusions, exclusions and VAT. Availability depends on independent professionals and the project; HVACX does not guarantee a local response or attendance time.
Before selecting a contractor
Check qualifications for the work, relevant equipment experience, insurance and commissioning/warranty arrangements directly. F-Gas requirements apply to the relevant work on systems containing F gas. Agree price, scope, permissions and access before the installation date.
Related questions
Does being in London guarantee an installer response?
No. Independent contractors assess postcode, project scope, access and their workload. A city page is not evidence of guaranteed availability or an HVACX branch.
Is planning permission always unnecessary?
No. Government guidance explicitly says there is no blanket rule. Check the proposed external works and address with the relevant local council and confirm any landlord or managing-agent permissions.
